No one likes to be lied. People have a rights to know the truth of anything, including news in the world. Julian Assange has provided a good platform for people to find out the truth of the news - WikiLeaks. According to the article of Khatchadourian, Julian Asssange has contributed a lot in building up WikiLeaks. With his bravery and journalist's spirit, getting truth of news are not something impossible anymore.
In Raffi Khatchadourian's article, it has mentioned "WikiLeaks exists wherever he does". It is fair enough to say that because Assange is the creator of WikiLeaks and he is the journalist who found out the truth of the readers. He travels from country to country just to investigate and reveal the truth of a news. He will keep the information updated no matter where he is. As what I have mentioned, no one likes to be lied. This is why there are many volunteers are helping Assange to maintain the website. With the help of these volunteers, Assange can only travel over the world for getting more international truth to the readers.
However, revealing the truth of the news of government is something might against the lawsuit and the contents might be force to remove. "He told me that WikiLeaks maintains its content on more than twenty servers around the world and on hundreds of domain names", said Khatchadourian. This is the reason why Assange does not worry the contents will be remove. They are smart. Smart in a way of protecting their precious contents. With different servers and domain names, they will hardly found where is the contents' location, who posted it up and where is it from. In this way, they can protect the contents from being removed and also protecting themselves at the same time. This is a smart way I can say.
In my opinion, citizens will like WikiLeaks but not the government of the country. Citizens like it because they can know the real story behind a news and they can know the truth of a news without finding themselves but only surf on WikiLeaks. With WikiLeaks, citizens do not need to search for the truth of the news themselves and they can fight for their rights on knowing the truth of news easily with the proofs of WikiLeaks. However, from government's point of view, WikiLeaks might not be a good thing. When there are some misleading information spread out to the citizens and citizens believe the information, government will hard to rule the country and also getting trust from the citizens.
As what I have mentioned earlier, no one likes to be cheated but no one likes to let others reveal their secret. Wikileaks revealing secrets and provides the information on the web, it is something unethical but they are trying to telling the truth of a news to the readers. I can't judge which side is right or wrong, but I'm sure they are working hard their own parts. I'm impressed by Assange, with his bravery and courage on revealing top secret. He has become a great role model of journalists.
Hello Pei Jie! Basically, I think wikileak could be good and bad to the public. It is great that the citizen can know the ugly truth, meanwhile this could be start off the rebellation towards the government. Eventually, it could be turn into the tragic aftermath. Nevertheless, I am really salute Julian Assange's bravery on revealing these top hidden secrets.

ReplyDeletegood write up, and i do think that wikileaks certainly inform the public about the "darkside" on what other party doing. It can be good because we are not only being blindly read and know what is being published in local news but with wikileaks certainly we can know more...=)
Pei Jie, your post is clear and simple to explain about what is wikileaks. You're right, we cannot judge whether it is right or bad but it all depends on what kind of situation. I agree with Weng Loong comment as well as we can know more about the back story of a story. Anyway, thanks for telling us.
ReplyDeleteNice post as you are standing in both parties and think on their situation to analyse. There is no right or wrong in between but i believe that there are something that citizen suppose and not suppose to know in order to ensure that the country in on a balance situation.It would be bad if the citizen started to create protest or arguement and thus effect the image of country.However, i wold only say that besides than revealing bad news, what about says something that would make the country be proud of?
ReplyDeleteNey PeiJie. Its true that no one like to be cheated. We have the right to know the truth in everything that involve us personally or as a citizens of the country. We have the rights to know what has happens in our country and Assange helps to reveal the truth to the citizens. Like you said no one likes to let others reveal their secret and it is very unethical to reveal other people's private. So, it is very hard to judge who is right and who is wrong but i respected Assange for his courage.
ReplyDeleteNice analysis. For me, I personally think that everyone is Wikileaks. Wikileaks is not only about Juliam Assange but also the mass, the public. Everyone knows the truth but they didn't dare to speak out because the lawsuit. In my opinions, I think that Julian had done a great job in revealing the truth because of his justice and also bravery. But at the same time, they also have to risk everything that the government might force them to close down the website as Wikileaks is facing now. I think Wikileaks is the threat for the government as the contents might affect their reputation and also affect the peace condition in a country. But at the end, truth are the things that everyone wants to know and it will helps more and more innocent people to save their live.
